Beach Fossils – Lessons

February 10, 2012

Beach Fossils are kind of surf-popists minus the beach. The Brooklyn based band is all bleached-clean guitar and tin-can vocals, but somehow they sound more like Real Estate than any other contemporary acts. “Lessons” is off the B-side of their upcoming 7-inch, and it could be an easy song to overlook simply because of the fact that it fits a bit too snuggly into the current low-fi, indie-rock landscape. But, once you get past just how stock Beach Fossils can sound, what you see is a hint of the darkness and discontent that colors their sound and lends this band more depth than one might think.
