Arcade Fire – Abraham’s Daughter

March 26, 2012

Even if you haven’t read The Hunger Games, you’ve probably gleaned enough from the buzz of modern pop-culture to know that its subject matter is extraordinarily dark, especially when you consider that it’s basically marketed to kids. “Abraham’s Daughter” opens up with some ominous distortion and then devolves into a marching song — you can just picture this track fitting perfectly under some sort of introduction to a battle sequence. Arcade Fire have certainly taken some risks in the last few years, not shying away from fat paychecks and commercial success, but the overall quality of their work is still so high, it seems as though they’re incapable of alienating their fans.
