Hospitality – Friends Of Friends

March 6, 2012

Hospitality is a band that makes sonic candy–perfectly engineered tunes that satisfy the proverbial sweet-tooth. That’s not to say that their sound is pure fluff, not to be taken seriously, but rather that Hospitality has cultivated an attitude and approach that yields an unapologetically warm and fun brand of indie-pop. “Friends Of Friends,” with its skip-to-my-lou baseline and Amber Papini’s casual vocal delivery, feels wonderfully effortless, as if the band just picked up their instruments and started improvising. Sure, Hospitality isn’t exploring the confines of their genre or challenging the sonic status quo on this one, but that’s not what this track set out to do. Rather, “Friends Of Friends” is a track meant for the morning, just as you start your day–a reminder that you can simply start by putting one foot in front of the other.
