School Of Seven Bells – Show Me Love

March 2, 2012

Since the inception of SVIIB (the somewhat gimmicky shorthand for School of Seven Bells), Benjamin Curtis and Alejandra Dehaza have cultivated a mystical sonic persona. They combine a drugged-out incarnation of shoe-gaze with icy, dream-pop vocals to create an ethereal, textured sound. “Show Me Love” is characterized by the distorted and wobbly guitar that opens the track and lingers throughout, evoking a feeling of revelation, as if the track is building toward some sort of ultimate, climactic point. Ghostory is out now, and demonstrates a simplification of SVIIB’s sound in which they build out from Dehaza’s vocals and allow the rest to fall into place.
