My Tiger My Timing – The Gold Rush

July 16, 2012

The darkness in My Tiger My Timing is easy to miss — it lies, as they say, behind the eyes.

With a new wave pop exterior that feels endearingly familiar in an indie rock landscape saturated with the genre, Anna Vincent and crew could be mistaken for some simple hipster sonic candy, just as the cute blonde kid on the front of their album could be mistaken for someone harmless. But on tracks like “The Gold Rush”, My Tiger My Timing hints at a dark underbelly, one that is representative of the evil that exists in all of us — even in little sally-from-next-door blondies.
