Tame Impala – Be Above It

October 9, 2012

Sure, every current rock band can, in some way, be compared to The Beatles. But it really is hard to talk about Tame Impala without mentioning the psychedelic side of The Beatles. As soon as the vocals come in at :45 on “Be Above It,” you are immediately reminded of Tomorrow Never Knows and Rain. They simply must have been inspired by them. Nevertheless, this track is great not just because it sounds like The Beatles. The song is governed by guitar chords that come at the beginning and end of each vocal line. Somehow though, Tame Impala manages to make each and every chord just as exciting as the last. So although it is a repetitive song, it’s still incredibly enjoyable to listen to.
