Guppy – Seen

February 22, 2013

Guppy is a side project of Zula‘s Nate Terepka and Ava Luna’s Felicia Douglass. Nate states (according to yvynyl), “one thing that’s exciting and refreshing about this project is that there are no plans attached… For now, it’s just this one song that we like, and would like people to hear.” What a natural collaboration. It really feels like these guys simply both appreciated each others work and wanted to make something together. There is no business involved and no expectations that need to be met. Guppy is just a fun little experiment. And sometimes when the pressure is off, great things happen. “Seen” is a track that is driven by a slow, heavy drum beat and a loop of what sounds like a flock of seagulls. Douglass provides her signature background vocals, which gives depth to the songs in the same way that she does for most Ava Luna songs. “Seen” not only makes us want to hear more from Guppy, but it makes us even more interested in Zula and Ava Luna, the bands these artist come from.
