San Fermin – Sonsick (Magic Man Remix)

July 12, 2013

You know a good remix when it would be hard to imagine the track played any other way. That is how I feel about Magic Man’s remix of “Sonsick.” The original track, featuring Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig from Lucius, is a very vocal dominated track. The volume mostly comes from the two singers who belt the chorus on top of each other. The rest is made up of a prominent horns section. But what San Fermin does with horns, Magic Man does with synths. And although I am usually more of a “real instrument” kind of guy, hearing Magic Man’s euphoric synths makes me a electro-pop believer. If this were the original song, I would say San Fermin could compete with the likes of CHVRCHES and Purity ring. And that is how you know Magic Man knows what they are doing.
