Lanterns on the Lake – The Buffalo Days

January 15, 2014

Lanterns on the Lake’s 2011 debut LP Gracious Tide, Take Me Home is one of my all-time favorites. If you can appreciate especially sincere, low-key folk tracks then I’d highly suggest you give it a proper listen. So I am sure you can imagine my excitement for their follow up album Until The Colours Run which was released in the U.S. yesterday. This record takes a much different approach than their previous work as most of the tracks are a bit more rock-oriented than what I am used to. And what might have begun as a brief moment of skepticism resulted in delight as LOTL puts together another complete collection of heartfelt, albeit often intense tracks. “The Buffalo Days” is as powerful as it is emotional, building and building until it finally reaches an Explosions In The Sky-like epic conclusion. So be sure to check out this track as well as the entire LP to see why we’re so high on this UK folk rock collective.
