Patrick Watson – Love Songs For Robots

March 4, 2015

It’s never easy to accept the truth when a record you’ve been eagerly anticipating for years turns out to be a complete dud, but that’s what we are coming to terms with this week when it comes to Purity Ring’s sophomore effort another eternity. While we weren’t expecting another record as bold or innovative as Shrines, we also weren’t expecting them to completely drop the ball like they did with this one. For the sake of our featured artist, we aren’t going to go in depth as to why, but we sure hope it doesn’t take another eternity from them to bounce back from this epic sophomore slump. Fortunately for us, there are plenty of other great tunes released this week that we’ve been leaning on to help ease the pain. Tunes such as the brilliant title track to Patrick Watson’s upcoming LP Love Songs For Robots. I like to think of Watson as a sort of hybrid between acts like Andrew Bird, Owen Pallett, and Bon Iver. He’s certainly got all the talent and tools to become a household name himself, and with an anthem this pretty it’s really only a matter of time before the rest of the world

catches on as well. We are eagerly awaiting his new LP which comes out next week on Domino Records.
